Penn State University, Greater Allegheny, Ostermayer Lab Addition and Renovation

Enhancing Penn State University’s Science Education in McKeesport

The existing 21,700 sq. ft. Ostermayer Lab and Classroom Building was originally completed in 1973 and housed three chemistry and organic chemistry labs, two biology labs, laboratory prep rooms and laboratory storage, a general classroom, and faculty offices. This project included a complete interior, lab, and building system renovation to modernize and improve the facility along with improvements to the main entrance of the building. This new research space houses state-of-the-art laboratory and safety equipment, modernized teaching spaces and improved classroom and collaboration spaces, and an enhanced entrance and lobby space to display student work and engage the local community in informal science education.
