SMUD East Campus Operations Center

Nation's Largest Net Zero Campus

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is one of the ten largest publicly owned utilities in the United States, generating the bulk of its power through natural gas and large hydroelectric generation plants. To continue to serve the Sacramento region, relocation of the old corporate yard was vital. All functions were relocated to a new 51-acre, six-building campus that includes a five-story office building as well as fuel, maintenance, and equipment repair shops, open storage space, a warehouse, and fleet parking. At the time of completion, the LEED Platinum Certified East Campus Operations Center was designed as the nation's largest Net Zero campus.
