NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, David H. Koch Center

The 17-story David H. Koch Center is a leading edge outpatient facility that provides patient-centric health care services. Its flexible programming allows New York-Presbyterian (NYPH) to adapt the interiors to changing technology over time. As well, critical building systems essential to maintaining operations during an emergency are located above grade to protect and isolate them from hazards. One of Turner's key objectives was the implementation of the Last Planner System during the preconstruction phase. The collaborative approach resulted in the creation of a master schedule founded on a predictable work flow and allowed for complex foundation and excavation work to be completed ahead of schedule. Additional challenges overcome included the installation of a complex curtain wall, fourth floor LINAC vaults, and the construction of a 200,000 sq. ft. shell space.
