Vornado Realty Trust, 1PENN Repositioning

On behalf of Vornado Realty Trust, Turner performed a repositioning on 1 Penn Plaza, a 58-story commercial office tower with direct access to Penn Station. Throughout construction, the building remained occupied by more than 7,500 tenants.

The scopes of work included remediation of over 700,000 sq. ft. of the curtainwall facade; modernization of the 46 elevators to increase cab heights and finishes and upgrade to destination dispatch controls; a complete renovation of the lobby, retail, and exterior plazas, which included interior upgrades, exterior plaza renovations, and the replacement of 1,300 linear feet of storefront of the first two floors; a partial overhaul of the building cooling plant to accommodate two 1,800-ton electric chillers with associated pumps and controls; and the interior and exterior fit-out of a new property leasing showcase space. All work will be carefully phased and coordinated to prevent disruptions to occupied tenant spaces and allow constant and uninterrupted building operations and tenant access to all floors.
