Middle Tennessee State University Science Building

Enhancing Science and Technology Education in Tennessee

Turner provided preconstruction and construction management services for the new three-story, 257,000-sq. ft., state-of-the-art Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Science Building. The facility houses MTSU’s Chemistry and Biology Departments, along with graduate programs for computational sciences and molecular biology.

Modern Labs for Research and Experiments

The Science Building houses 36 teaching labs, 13 research labs, six classrooms, one research area for integrated life sciences, one research area for computation, 85 faculty and staff offices, informal learning areas, and common spaces. The building features space for student presentations, a three-story atrium, a greenhouse, and a vivarium.

A Commitment to Sustainability

In addition to meeting the State of Tennessee’s sustainable design guidelines, Turner took the initiative to pilot and procure LEED Silver® certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, at no added cost to the State of Tennessee. The project is LEED Silver® certified.
