Medfield Heights Elementary School

Neighborhood Community Hub

Medfield Heights Elementary School serves as a community hub for the entire neighborhood, while simultaneously providing a top-of-the-line educational facility for the students and faculty. This school building is nearly triple in size of the original 1950s building, and boasts a fully equipped modern gymnasium, a kitchen, three grade-appropriate play areas, extensive exterior amenities, and on-site parking.

The Medfield Heights project was one of heart and engagement. Completed six weeks ahead of schedule, the team returned over $2 million in project savings and exceeded the project’s established Minority Business Enterprise and Workforce Development goals.

This project was also awarded an Award of Excellence from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Baltimore through thier Excellence in Construction Awards program.

Additionally, we actively involved the students and teachers through a hardhat sticker design contest that was provided to our Trade Partners after completion of the project-specific safety orientation.

"I just wanted to say thank you all for the work you are doing for all schools, but most importantly ours. Our school community amazes me and yesterday was the first time our big new building was used by so many different groups. It was as if both our mission and vision, and 21st century schools’ mission and vision had collided.

We had dozens of PTO volunteers helping to sort fundraiser items in half if the gym, while gym was still taking place. We had literacy night, that we were able to host safely because of our large spaces. Our after care program was using the community space. The book fair was open and accessible to the public.

I was so inspired as I walked around from 7am - 8pm, as I saw happy kids, happy families and potential families come in and out all day. Then as I walked out of the building after a very long day, the neighborhood association was walking in to have their monthly meeting. It was just the perfect day to remind me that the school is the hub.

So thank you for this work you are doing because I can see the difference it makes for our community.”
