Lake Central High School Addition and Renovation

Transforming Lake Central High School: A Phased Renovation

The phased renovation and expansion of Lake Central High School included 850,000 sq. ft. of updates and additions and was completed while the school remained fully occupied and operational. The first phase involved sitework and upgrading campus utilities, which included adding an electrical substation, relocating original underground utilities, and demolishing an athletic field and a track, all to prepare for construction.

The second phase included the construction of a three-story, 263,000 sq. ft. classroom and vocational wing as well as a 77,000 sq. ft. aquatics center.

The third phase involved demolition of old athletic and arts facilities and additions and improvements to others. Additions included a 115,000 sq. ft. facility with music space, an auditorium, and a media center and a 110,000 sq. ft. gymnasium and administrative center, as well as an athletic fields complex with a synthetic turf softball field, baseball field and a football stadium.

The project also included more than 273,000 sq. ft. of improvements to Lake Central's original building. This project was completed as a joint venture with Powers and Sons Construction.
