Turner Kicks Off Construction at Manhattan West Platform Project

At a project
launch ceremony hosted by Brookfield Properties, Turner team members, including
Pat Di Filippo, members of the project’s design and engineering teams, and Mayor
Michael Bloomberg gathered to celebrate the start of construction at the
Manhattan West Platform Project. Attendees signed the first of 612 concrete
segments that will make up the deck.
Composed of 16
beams, each made up of pre-cast concrete segments connected and post-tensioned
on site, the West Platform Project spans the rail yard west of Penn Station, and
will support multi-use towers.
