Turner Completes Two-Floor Fit-Out for KPMG

November 08, 2012

Turner Construction recently completed a two-floor fit out for KPMG, one of the nation’s largest accounting firms. Turner maintains a national relationship with KPMG and has completed more than 20 projects for the firm. The scope of work for this project included complete interior demolition and construction for all interior finishes and MEP systems. The project is pursuing LEED Silver Certification by the GBCI.

The new design includes state-of-the-art Training Rooms that open to provide a large conference and assembly space accommodating over 160 people.  The Training Rooms include integrated audio-visual controls and the lighting scenes and blackout shade controls are accessible via an iTouch mobile device.

The space features office ‘pods’ with sliding glass door assemblies and “Idea Paint”, which is a dry-erase, writable surface, on one wall of every office and conference room. Other notable features and finishes include reclaimed, red oak, barn wood as the flooring in the main reception and lobby areas; fumed, eucalyptus veneer paneling throughout the reception, conference, and training areas; a full-height stone tile wall in the elevator lobby; glass tile brick mosaics for alcove backsplashes; and an antler chandelier.  “KPMG takes great care to develop and implement design standards in their work spaces across the country while still making each space unique and infusing local flavor into the design.  The mix of stone and wood in the main lobby areas give the space a true Colorado-feel,” says Laura Prendergast, Project Manager for Turner Construction Company.

Designed by Perkins +Will out of Chicago, this 38,000 square foot space is located in the 17th Street Plaza building in downtown Denver. Also built by Turner in 1983, this 755,000 square foot granite and glass office tower includes a 37,000 square foot plaza and a 275,000 square foot two-level subterranean parking garage.
