August 02, 2011

Richmond, VA - Last Thursday evening, Richmond City Council approved selection of Turner's subsidiary Tompkins in joint venture with Ballard to design and build the Justice Center for the City of Richmond, VA. The plan for the facility was approved in a 7-2 vote by the City Council after being recommended by the Mayor of Richmond last month and the Procurement Office in May of this year.

The $116 Million New Justice Center is being procured as a design-build delivery under the PPEA Act and will be a jail with 1032 beds, administrative support and inmate program facilities. This project will be designed to achieve LEED-NC Silver.

Design will begin in September 2011 for a ground breaking in January 2012.
