Become a Subcontractor
In September 2022, the Turner School of Construction Management recommenced in Detroit with 27 students enrolled. All students had previously been accepted to the Turner School in March 2020, but because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the cohort was delayed. The students remained in regular contact with Turner during the subsequent time period and all attended the first class of the 2022 offering.
The Turner School of Construction Management was established in 1969, as an effort to improve the economic viability of underutilized business enterprise (UBE) firms. This program has helped UBE’s build sustainable and enduring businesses, create networks, establish joint venture partnerships, and form long-term business relationships.
Five subject matter sessions were taught by an all-Turner team. Course topics included Executive Management, Risk Management, Estimating, Bidding and Procurement, Lean Construction Field Operations, and Project Safety Management.
Along with Turner, the program was also co-sponsored by Dickinson-Wright, PLC; Bedrock Management, LLC; Henry Ford Health; and Wayne State University.
In 2023, Turner and Henry Ford Health will host an inaugural TSCM Detroit Reunion. Turner School grads since the 2016 Detroit relaunch will be invited. A lineup of special client guests for a roundtable talk, contractor matchmaking, and networking are planned.
