Purdue University Mackey Arena Complex Renovation

Record-breaking Renovations for Purdue Athletics

The scope of the Mackey renovation was the most comprehensive and significant facility undertaking in Purdue University’s athletics history.  The five-phase project bought a 40-year-old campus landmark into the 21st century while preserving its rich history and tradition. The project significantly enhanced the overall fan experience at Purdue games. The concourse width was nearly doubled, concessions were increased four times, and restrooms were increased by thirty percent. Accessible seating increased approximately six fold, which includes lower-level premium seating as well as two club spaces.

Additionally, a three-level structure, the Student Athlete Development Center, was constructed north of Mackey. Its highlights include a new sports medicine facility, strength and weight training facility, oversized basketball practice facility with a full-size court and three breakout shooting areas, as well as an administrative and team office outfitted with media support spaces.

Though the facility was occupied by staff and students every day, the Turner team was able to triple the size of the complex without impacting a single event.
