Turner Engineering Group

WHO WE ARE

The Turner Engineering Group provides skill, oversight, and analysis to Turner project teams in order to optimize project design, offer solutions to design-related challenges, and add value for our clients.

With a specialized staff of licensed and certified engineers, designers, and building technologists, the Turner Engineering group offers technical experience across a range of essential building disciplines, for every phase of construction, on projects of all types and sizes.

Our mission is threefold:

  • Mitigate potential design risk
  • Identify coordination challenges
  • Generate potential system optimization opportunities
WHAT WE DO

Beginning as early as possible in the life of a project, the Turner Engineering Group engages with Turner’s preconstruction and operations teams, as well as the project’s designer of record, to identify potential design and construction risks and opportunities to add value with engineered solutions.

On a design-build project, a Turner Engineering Group Design Manager provides insight, guidance, and leadership related to both the design itself, and the execution of that design — from the creation of project scope and contract agreements, through preconstruction and beyond.

Design Managers in turn engage the expertise of Turner Engineering Group Design Specialists, who bring advanced technical knowledge of individual disciplines, as the team determines the extent of the Turner Engineering Group’s involvement. Together, Design Managers and Design Specialists review and evaluate the project’s design development, discipline by discipline, from soil load characteristics to thermal performance to fire egress layouts.

The studies and observations that result from the Turner Engineering Group’s design evaluations are then submitted for designer, engineer, and owner review. Taken together, the Turner Engineering Group process encourages collaboration and the sharing of innovative and out-of-the-box solutions, and reflects the group’s goal to meet client needs and exceed client expectations with optimized design solutions.

  • Technical Reviews are focused on individual trade disciplines, such as curtainwall or foundations, though they may include multiple building elements.
  • Risk Analyses are focused on key aspects of project delivery, beginning with a thorough review of site conditions and significant design elements. Other components of risk are typically catalogued and prioritized in a Risk Register, a process that includes a thorough review of contractual requirements.
  • Operations and Systems are evaluated during individual site inspections and construction method reviews in order to provide input on project execution.
