Turner provided general contracting services and also completed all interiors work for McConnell Foundation Headquarters, a 30,000 sq. ft. office building, located adjacent to three small lakes on 200 acres of rolling oak-covered hills. The structure is particulary unique because it was built entirely of recycled timber. The wood, milled at the turn of the century, was initially used to build a sawmill in the State of Washington. The 489 beams and columns were planed, sanded, and finished from rough 50-ft., 12"x24" Douglas Fir. The wood was cut into 8"x8" and 8"x16" sizes in Bellingham, Washington, and transported to the project site. The finished pieces include beams, columns, and eight trusses (two of which measure 3'x38'). The exposed wood pieces are an integral design element in this structure made of predominately natural finishes.
