Turner’s commitment to local communities is reflected in three key areas: partnerships with Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises, the Turner Foundation and our staff’s civic and volunteer activities.
Turner awarded more than 200 contracts to Illinois based Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises for a total of $46 million in 2010. The Turner School of Construction Management has been offered to these businesses locally since 1988, and the program has graduated more than one thousand students.
The Turner Foundation was established in 2000 to support Illinois communities and not-for-profit organizations through grants, gifts and service. The organization, led by Turner staff volunteers who have raised nearly $3 million since its inception, donates to deserving local organizations through funds raised at the Foundation Golf Outing and the Foundation’s Annual Poker Tournament.
Across Illinois, Turner and its employees are contributing time and talent to make their communities better places to live and reflect the corporation's commitment to good citizenship. Our Youth Force 2020 program, active engagement in the ACE Mentor program, work with Habitat for Humanity/Rebuilding Together Chicago and participation in other groups (such as Make a Wish, Chicago Architecture Foundation, March of Dimes, United Way and the City of Hope) reflect our dedication to responsible corporate citizenship.
