With Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York, Turner Construction Company’s School of Construction Management Offers Advanced Session for Industry Small Business Owners

September 19, 2013

Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce that in partnership with Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York, we will offer an advanced session of the Turner School of Construction Management beginning October 8, 2013.

The partnership between the Turner School of Construction Management and Medgar Evers College began in 2008 while Turner was managing construction of the College’s Academic Building 1. The training course was an eight-week, 16-session program taught by Turner staff and industry leaders that covered one subject per class. Classes were taught on the College’s campus and 43 small business owners graduated. The next year, the partnership launched the advanced TSCM program, which covers fewer topics, and spends six to ten sessions on each.

“Our ongoing partnership with Medgar Evers on the Turner School is a good example of how we strive to make a difference in the communities where we build,” said Charlie Murphy, senior vice president and general manager of Turner’s New York office. He continued, “We’re proud of our people, who volunteer to teach the courses, and we’re proud of the small business owners who come to further develop their skills and build business relationships that can enhance their viability in the industry. We look forward to working with them.”
