Turner Tops Out James R. Herman Cruise Terminal at Pier 27

July 20, 2012

The Port of San Francisco, Department of Public Works, Mayor Ed Lee, members of the Turner team, and members of the maritime community gathered to celebrate the topping out of the Pier 27 Cruise Terminal. All attendees watched as the final beam, signed by the mayor, and city, port, and union officials, was raised and fixed in place with the traditional tree and flag attached.

The James R. Herman Cruise Terminal at Pier 27, which will open as the venue for the 34th America’s Cup Village in 2013, is designed to accommodate vessels up to 1,200 feet long and be an elegant gateway to the city with expansive views.

The project has exceeded its local hiring and local business enterprise utilization goals, and is expected to create more than 1,000 direct-labor jobs by the time construction is complete.
