Turner Fourth Annual Charity Golf Tournament

August 29, 2011

For the fourth consecutive year, Turner’s San Diego office held its Annual Charity Golf Tournament.  With more than 130 participants, the tournament raised $50,000 for Pro Kids.

Pro Kids mission is to challenge underserved youth to excel in life by promoting character development, life-skills, and values through education and the game of golf. All Pro Kids members have immediate access to the Homework Club (afterschool tutoring), mentoring, and educational workshops through the Learning Center. After kids pass basic golf and life-skills certification, they gain access to the rest of the Learning Center resources: an adult-monitored computer lab, community service projects, educational, vocational, and social field trips, leadership trainings, college preparation programs, and college scholarships.

One of the foursomes during the tournament was a team that included current Pro Kids members under the age of 18. As a testament to the golf skills gained through the organization, their foursome won the tournament with an incredible 16 under par.

Since its establishment, the Turner Annual Charity Golf Tournament has raised nearly $200,000 for charitable organizations in San Diego County. A special thanks to all the volunteers and contractors for their support!
