The City of Harper Woods Public Library is the first LEED certified public library by the United States Green Building Council in the state of Michigan. The project earned a LEED Silver certification in September 2007.

This project consisted of a complete renovation of 12,000 sq. ft. of existing space and an addition of 6,000 sq. ft. that includes an elevator, main staircase, rear entry and a barrel-vaulted roof. 

Approximately 95% of all of construction waste on the project was recycled and diverted away from landfills.
