Since the early 1900's, Turner has been part of Houston's dynamic growth. In 1919, Turner completed its first project in the state of Texas. Turner served as the construction manager of a 94-building complex in the booming town of Houston for Humble Oil Company (now Exxon Mobil). With 45 employees now working in Houston, Turner is dedicated to building the future of the city.
Turner has established itself as a leading builder in Texas, completing work throughout the state and in the neighboring states of New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana. In 1968, a fully-staffed office was formally established in Houston. This office constructed many of the high-rise buildings that now make up the skyline in Houston.
Turner continues its efforts today with some of Houston's most prominent buildings. Turner completed the Hilton Americas Houston Convention Center Hotel, Houston's largest hotel to date. Similarly, Turner built 717 Texas ("Calpine Center"), a 33-story office building in downtown Houston. Both of these projects received Texas Construction Magazine's Best of 2004 Award for Construction projects in the state.
South of Houston, Turner managed construction of the Sugar Land Marriott Hotel and Conference Center and a four-story precast concrete parking garage.
Turner also constructed the Galleria IV Expansion, this area's namesake shopping mall and built the Brooks Brothers store at the Galleria II.
