Turner Announces Partnership with Center for Connected Medicine

The Center for Connected Medicine is a virtual showcase for healthcare leaders to experience firsthand the possibilities of an interconnected healthcare system, a system that shares medical information among healthcare providers, institutions, and patients, while safeguarding each patient’s right to privacy. Connected Medicine integrates the multiple facets of our healthcare system, including information technologies, health records, and devices, into a seamless environment offering better patient outcomes, improved professional practice and reduced costs.

Founded by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), Alcatel-Lucent, IBM and Cerner, The Center for Connected Medicine brings together leaders in healthcare, information technology, communications and other industries to integrate and apply solutions for shortening the care cycle, improving access to quality care, enhancing efficiencies of the health care system, and reducing costs. Turner has become a Strategic Partner in this unique collaboration along with Blackberry, dbMotion, Google, ikaSystems, Johnson Controls and Polycom.

Located on the 60th floor of the U. S. Steel Tower in Pittsburgh, the Center showcases the real-world experience of UPMC, whose model of health care is built upon an integrated platform bringing together physicians and facilities, integrating health insurance and leveraging information technology to deliver excellent patient care in a true digital environment. By implementing networking and communications solutions and electronic health records within a virtual infrastructure, caregivers have seamless access to consolidated patient information. As a result, patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right way.
