The 97,000 sq. ft. Dalles Middle School is the first school in the state of Oregon built under the LEED system for environmentally sustainable buildings. This state-of-the-art facility is anticipated to receive a LEED Silver Certification from the United States Green Building Council for its many energy efficient features.
The site plan also includes 82 parking spaces, 176 bicycle spaces, a hard-surfaced recreation area with two basketball courts, patio for outdoor eating and an outdoor “wetlands” teaching garden area, in addition to soccer/football and softball fields south of the building.
