
Turner provided preconstruction and construction services for the 255,000 sq. ft., 10-story Exelon Corporate Headquarters in downtown Chicago. The facility includes executive officers and in-house departments for communications, corporate security, finance, human resources, information technology, legal services and other administrative functions. The Exelon Corporate Headquarters has been Certified as LEED-CI 2.0 Platinum by the United States Green Building Council.
Green features of the facility include :
- Low VOC-emitting materials to improve indoor air quality
- Energy-efficient lighting system that consumes 35% less energy than industry standards
- Over 60% of project materials purchased from manufacturers located within 500 miles of the project site to reduce emissions associated with transportation and comply with LEED® material selection guidelines
- Air filters to minimize dust and pollutants during and after construction
- Carpet backing from recycled materials and cork flooring in the cafes and elevator lobbies
- Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood for millwork areas; floor that was constructed of reclaimed timbers from a barn
- Construction waste management program throughout project
- Re-use of furniture and materials
