This 690,000 square foot replacement of Virtua Voorhees Hospital includes a 364,000 square foot  inpatient pavilion, a 298,000 square foot  support services building, and a 28,000 square foot  central utility plant. The project also includes a 7,300 square foot kitchen catering to 375 patient rooms, 3,360 square foot servery, 6,865 square foot dining area, and a coffee shop.

The facility is digitally based, with complete electronic medical records, computerized patient rooms featuring technologies such as beds that monitor patient vital signs, and the ability to convert from a medical room to an intensive care room and back without ever having to move the patient.  The hospital is designed for process efficiency, enabling clinical staff to spend more time with patients.

This project is part of Virtua's embarkation on a long-range plan to create a model healthcare destination site. Their new campus is situated in an environment highlighted by ponds, fountains, and landscaped areas bordering buildings and parking areas.  Walkways and gardens wind through the campus, and existing natural wetlands were preserved. Of the 120 acres of land, 60 acres will be developed, while the remaining landscape will be utilized to create a campus-like environment with healing gardens and grounds. The campus will include a regional ambulatory care center, medical office building, cancer center, and an inpatient hospital with a women’s and children’s pavilion.
