project at a glance

The James R. Herman Cruise Terminal is a 91,000 square foot building that features a minimalist glass and metal facade and an airy interior to highlight the stunning view of the bay.  The two-level facility meets modern ship and operational requirements of the cruise industry and provides a welcoming gateway to San Francisco.  Passengers departing and arriving pass through the terminal, which houses ticketing, baggage, security operations, and Customs and Border Protection.

Improvements to the site includes the installation of updated maritime equipment and a mobile overhead gangway for boarding passengers along with apron.  The project also includes a two-acre waterfront park.
