Turner served as construction manager for the interior fit out of Boston Scientific’s biotech manufacturing facility. The project was a joint venture with local construction company, Constructora Proycon.
The first phase of the project involved a fit-out of a 32,000 square meter, two-story core and shell facility that houses office, manufacturing (clean room) and warehouse space. It was delivered on time and under budget, contributing to the client's overall project success.
The facility will increase Boston Scientific's production of endoscopy products in Costa Rica, which presently accounts for devices used in more than half of all gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures performed worldwide.
It is the first manufacturing plant in Latin America to receive the LEED-CI Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
Turner Logistics collaborated to develop a procurement process for the facility. Procured equipment included generators and automatic transfer switches (ATSs) chillers, air handling units (AHUs), cooling towers and variable frequency drives (VFDs). Working as a consultant, Turner Logistics generated budgets, leveled bids, provided optimized solutions, analyzed installation cost variables, made final vendor recommendations and performed submittal reviews.
