Turner Awarded Contract to Manage Madison Square Garden Transformation

MSG, Originally Built by Turner in 1968, Has More than 400 Events and Hosts More Than Four Million Visitors Each Year

New York, N.Y., July 16, 2010 – Turner Construction Company, the nation’s largest builder of sports facilities, has been selected to provide construction management services for the Madison Square Garden Transformation in New York, N.Y.

The full-scale transformation, which will be completed in phases, will be highlighted by a brand new 7th Avenue entrance, significantly wider concourses with views of the city, several new first-class food and entertainment amenities, improved sightlines, more comfortable seating, a dynamic new scoreboard, state-of-the-art lighting, sound and LED video systems in HDTV, 58 lower-level suites that are 50 percent larger and are 50 percent closer to events and 20 event-level suites that will be on the same floor as the playing surface.

Turner will also manage the restoration of Madison Square Garden’s famous iconic domed ceiling. In addition, two one-of-a-kind bridges, 200 feet in length will be constructed 70 feet above the playing floor, joining the east and west ends of the arena and allowing fans a spectacular unique viewing experience.
