Tompkins Builders Awarded $55 Million Contract To Build Capitol Hill Towers/Marriott Courtyard

Washington, D.C., April 5, 2004 – Tompkins Builders, Inc., has been awarded a $55 million contract to build the Capitol Hill Towers/Marriott Courtyard in Washington, D.C.  Tompkins has over 90 years of construction experience in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Tompkins is the general contractor for the project.  The owner of the project is the Valhal Corporation, in New York, N.Y.  The architects are SK&I Architectural Design Group in Bethesda, Md., for Capitol Hill Towers and Gordon & Greenberg Architects, in Cabin John, Md., for the Marriott Courtyard.  The structural engineer for the project is Tadjer, Cohen, Edelson & Associates of Silver Spring, Md.  Completion is slated for February 1, 2006. 

The project consists of two 14-story buildings with a shared parking garage. The Capitol Hill Towers is a 344-unit first-class rental apartment building.  The Marriott Courtyard is a 204-suite hotel.  The buildings will share a 249-car garage.  The property will be located in the heart of Washington, D.C., at 140 L Street, S.E.  It will be highly accessible to public transportation, including the Metro and Union Station, and many tourist attractions.
