Turner Awarded Contract To Construct $23 Million Student Housing Facility At The University Of South Florida In Tampa, Florida

Tampa, Fla., October 7, 2003 – The Tampa office of Turner Construction has been awarded a design/build contract for a $23 million student housing facility on the main campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa. Turner is the nation’s leading general builder.

This five-building, 180,000-sq.-ft. project, known as the Maple II facility, will house 602 students and will provide amenities such as state-of-the-art security and Internet-ready, high speed computer connections in student residences. Efforts have been made to preserve trees and other natural elements around the residence hall, providing a pleasant, park-like setting. Completion is scheduled for fall 2004, in time for the 2004/2005 school year. The architect is Harper Partners of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Turner is the leading general builder in the U.S., ranking first or second in the major segments of the building construction field. During 2002, Turner, based in Dallas, Texas, completed $6.2 billion of construction. Turner is the only builder offering clients a network of 45 offices across the U.S. Founded in 1902, Turner was acquired in 1999 by HOCHTIEF AG, one of the world's leading international construction companies.
