Turner Awarded Contract To Build A New $19.5 Million Private High School In Cincinnati
CINCINNATI, September 27, 1999 – The Cincinnati office of Turner Construction Company (NYSE: TUR) has been awarded a contract to build the new upper school, dining hall, theater, commons and library technology center for Cincinnati Country Day School. The project, when completed, will be a 97,000-square-foot facility in Cincinnati's Indian Hill neighborhood. Turner Construction Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Turner Corporation, the nation's leading general builder.
Turner is the construction manager/general contractor for the assignment. Demolition of the old high school began in July 1999, and the new construction is slated for completion in August 2000. The new upper school will house approximately 300 students in grades 9-12, and the dining hall, theater and other structures will be shared school-wide.
The project owner is the Cincinnati Country Day School. The new school is being built on the 73-year-old campus, which offers complete facilities for students in grades K-12 as well as an early childhood program. The architects for the new facility are GBBN Architects and Michael McInturf Architects, both of Cincinnati.
According to the architects, the unique design of the school was established to "inspire students and staff." The exterior is made up of a black burnished block veneer with curtainwall and stucco infills. Turner's Cincinnati office is currently handling new construction and renovation assignments for K-12 educational facilities for five Cincinnati area school districts -- Loveland, Northwest, Oak Hills, Sycamore, and Wyoming. The firm is also completing a large, new, state-of-the-art College-Conservatory of Music for the University of Cincinnati (a joint venture assignment with the Sherman R. Smoot Company of Columbus) in Cincinnati, and is just starting an expansion/remodeling food service project for Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio.
The Turner Corporation, through Turner Construction Company and other construction subsidiaries, is the nation's leading general builder. During 1998, The Turner Corporation completed in excess of $4.1 billion of construction. For more information, visit Turner's website at http://www.turnerconstruction.com.
