project at a glance

Designed by the Cuningham Group of Mineapolis, the renovation and expansion of Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel included a new main entrance, an interior rotunda, casino gaming areas, restaurants, a food court, and retail space.

In addition to these areas, a key element of the expansion is a concourse that ties the added facilities into a seamless campus with the other hotels, restaurants and shops on the south side of the creekscape. It is designed with natural materials, high waving ceilings, custom light fixtures and open atriums that allow views to the gaming floors below.

Many features of the project were designed to emphasize and emulate the natural surroundings of Western Carolina. The added rotunda includes eight 85-foot high architectural tree element, a 149-foot long continuous video screen, and a centerpiece with an 85-foot high water fall that cascades into an interior fountain. Aside from the spectacle of an interior waterfall, this element is a Water Scrim, which is a system engineered to project video content onto the water flow.
